Doctor’s Profile

Professor Md. Nur Hossain Bhuiyan Shaheen was born on 1st January 1970 in Cumilla, Bangladesh. He was graduated from Chittagong Medical College in 1995 and later in 2007 obtained the fellowship degree (FCPS) in General Surgery from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). He also received a fellowship in Surgery (FRCS) from the most prestigious institute; the “Royal College of Surgeons of England” in 2018.

He has obtained his postgraduate and postdoctoral training in general surgery, laparoscopic surgery and colorectal surgery both from home and abroad. He is the fellow of Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) recognized by the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). He has also obtained special fellowship training in colorectal surgery from the Banaras University, India, and the Sharp Medical Institute, America. He is also trained in Hepato-pancreaticobiliary (HPB) advanced laparoscopic surgery from Mumbai, India.

He started his academic career at Mymensingh Medical College. In the course of time he was promoted as an Assistant Register, Registrar, Assistant Professor and now Associate Professor of Surgery at Chittagong Medical College.

He is one of the most popular teachers as well as Postgraduate Surgical trainer in this arena. He is the one who started the new method of teaching; the SDL (Self Directed Learning) Programme at Chittagong Medical College which was published in the Chittagong Medical College Teachers Association Journal and BMA Journal the “Healer”.

He is the founder & life president of Chittagong Medical College Teachers Association and the SOSB (Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh), Chittagong Branch; also chaired the post for the Zonal Organizing Secretary of SOSB and the Chairman of the Doctors Club of Chittagong, Bangladesh. He is a member of one prestigious organization, ELSA. Recently he has been elected as the Secretary-General of the SOSB (Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh).

He has delivered many presentations both in National and International levels such as India, Singapore, etc. and arranged many national and international clinical seminars and workshops.
